【Graphite Electrodes】New Export Highlight: Explosive Growth in the Malaysian Market in May

According to customs data, China's graphite electrode export volume in May 2024 was 23,700 tons, experiencing a slight decline overall with a month-on-month decrease of 5.96% and a year-on-year decrease of 8.36%. The top three export destinations were Turkey, Russia, and South Korea.

The export volume to Turkey was 1,860 tons, an increase of 25.83% month-on-month. The export volume to Russia was 1,680 tons, a decrease of 25.33% month-on-month. Although Russia remains one of the main export destinations for China's graphite electrodes, there was a decline in export volume this month. The export volume to South Korea was 1,640 tons, a significant increase of 62.68% month-on-month.

Notably, the export volume of China's graphite electrodes to Malaysia was 1,430 tons, a massive month-on-month surge of 163.74%. Malaysia's demand for Chinese graphite electrodes has significantly increased recently. Meanwhile, due to anti-dumping policies, the export volume to Japan saw another decline in May, down by 23.34% month-on-month.
