【Petroleum-based Needle Coke】 October Imports Up 88.4% YoY

In October, China's total needle coke imports saw an increase, reaching 6,554 tons. Among this, coal-based needle coke imports totaled 1,808 tons, a 58.9% YoY decline, while Petroleum-based needle coke imports amounted to 4,746 tons, reflecting a 88.4% YoY increase. The main import sources were the UK, Japan, and South Korea. Recently, the import volume and price of needle coke have remained relatively stable, and it is expected that the total needle coke imports in 2024 will not see significant changes compared to last year. Exports

In October, China's needle coke exports were 1,745 tons, a 34.2% YoY decrease. With continuous advancements in domestic needle coke production technology and expanding capacity, China's position in the international needle coke market has strengthened. Additionally, new needle coke enterprises are actively entering the export market, which is expected to open up more overseas opportunities for Chinese needle coke.
