In April 2026, crude steel production for the 69 countries and regions reporting to the World Steel Association totaled 153.4 million tons, down 1.9% year-on-year.

Crude Steel Production by Region
In April 2026, crude steel production in Africa was 2.1 million tons, up 11.5% year-on-year; crude steel production in Asia and Oceania was 114.2 million tons, down 1.3% year-on-year; crude steel production in the European Union (27 countries) was 11.0 million tons, down 1.8% year-on-year; crude steel production in other European countries was 3.6 million tons, up 4.2% year-on-year; crude steel production in the Middle East was 3.7 million tons, down 27.6% year-on-year; crude steel production in North America was 9.4 million tons, up 6.9% year-on-year; crude steel production in Russia and other CIS countries plus Ukraine was 6.0 million tons, down 13.4% year-on-year; crude steel production in South America was 3.4 million tons, up 3.1% year-on-year.
