Graphite electrodes are products made from petroleum coke and pitch coke as aggregates, coal tar pitch as a binder, and processed through raw material calcination, crushing and grinding, batching, kneading, forming, baking, impregnation, graphitization, and mechanical processing. How are graphite electrodes ground? Today, we will introduce the production process of the vertical grinding machine for graphite electrodes.

In the production of graphite electrodes, the production process of the vertical grinding machine for graphite electrodes is completed by a set of grinding devices (namely grinding rollers and grinding discs), which grind the calcined coke and needle coke into powder between the grinding rollers and grinding discs.

The movement of the grinding device is driven by the rotation of the grinding disc, which in turn drives the grinding roller transmission. In addition to the weight of the grinding roller, the grinding pressure mainly depends on a hydraulic vertical grinding machine device that applies pressure to the grinding disc material. After grinding, there is a large amount of coarse powder in the calcined coke and needle coke. After being screened by a matching powder selector, the powder is transported to the powder batching warehouse for storage through the conveying system.

To some extent, the amount of pitch used depends on the specific surface area of the powder. For the same formula, when the powder is finer, it has a larger specific surface area, so more pitch is required. When the powder is coarser, relatively less pitch is needed. Therefore, studying and stabilizing the purity of the powder is crucial to ensuring that the aggregate is fully infiltrated by the pitch, improving the uniformity and stability of the entire compression molding process. The main reason for this is the powder content in the dust collection: the dust collected by various dust collection systems has many differences in bulk density, and the amount added directly affects the purity of the powder.

The complete system of the vertical grinding machine for graphite electrodes includes a material bin, feeding mechanism, grinding machine, and discharge mechanism. The material bin includes a front bin and a rear bin, and the feeding mechanism feeds the materials in the front bin into the vertical grinding machine for graphite electrodes for grinding. After grinding, the materials enter the offline pulse dust collector under the action of the discharge mechanism for dust removal and finally enter the rear bin for storage.

The front bin includes the front bin for needle coke grinding, the front bin for calcined coke grinding, and the ventilation powder bin. The feeding mechanism includes a needle coke vibrating feeder, a calcined coke vibrating feeder, and a variable frequency screw feeder. The front bin for needle coke grinding is connected to the vertical grinding machine for graphite electrodes through the needle coke vibrating feeder, and the front bin for calcined coke grinding is connected to the grinding machine through the calcined coke vibrating feeder. The ventilation powder bin is connected to the grinding machine through the variable frequency screw feeder.

On the basis of the existing grinding machine, an feeding device and a discharge device are added to achieve automatic feeding and discharging operations.
