【GE】Raw Material Prices Decline, Graphite Electrode Prices Drop Significantly

A recent survey on the ultra-high power graphite electrode market reveals that products with a length of 1800–2100 mm and a diameter of 450 mm are currently priced at RMB 15,000–15,400/ton (ex-works, including tax). Unlike the high price levels seen in March, graphite electrode prices have declined significantly in mid-April.

In the raw materials market, petroleum coke prices have shifted from an upward trend to a downward trajectory. This is mainly due to an increase in refinery operating rates, which has boosted supply, coupled with weakening downstream purchasing demand. The drop in raw material costs has significantly eased cost pressures for graphite electrode producers.

On the demand side, there is a trend of "more inquiries, stable actual transactions." Most steel mills are adopting a "production-based procurement" strategy and showing limited restocking interest, indicating bearish expectations for future prices. This also reflects that the steel industry's rigid demand for graphite electrodes remains stable overall.

In summary, under the dual pressure of weakening petroleum coke prices and cautious procurement by steel mills, graphite electrode prices have declined.
