Entering November, overall demand in China's steel market has slightly weakened, with downstream winter stocking intentions generally low, and market inventories continuing to decline slowly. As of November 6, China's rebar average price was 3,138 yuan, down 40 yuan from last weekend.

In terms of raw materials, this week, China's scrap steel market prices slightly followed the decline. The average purchase price of scrap steel (for electric furnaces) fell 22 yuan from last week to 2,118 yuan (excluding tax), and steel mill arrivals increased slightly.

According to statistics, as of November 6, the capacity utilization rate of 135 electric furnace steel plants in China was 46.1%, down 0.16% from last week, and electric furnace steel output was 302,100 tons/day, ending a two-week upward trend.

Affected by the three rounds of coke price increases, the flat electricity cost of electric furnace steel has now approached that of converter steel. However, since the market has entered the traditional off-season, electric furnace plants mainly producing long products will face increasing sales pressure. In northeast and northwest regions, some manufacturers are expected to suspend production seasonally after mid-November. In the short term, electric furnace steel output will show minor fluctuations.
