What is the machining accuracy of graphite electrode? 

In order to ensure the reliable connection of graphite electrode and prevent it from loosening, tripping or breaking during use, the processing of graphite electrode must reach high precision. The machining accuracy of electrode and nipple directly affects their connection quality, and connection quality has great influence on the normal operation of electric furnace and electrode consumption. The machining accuracy of graphite electrode is greatly affected by the precision of machining equipment itself, also related to the tools, cutting parameters and operator's operating level. 

In China's graphite electrode quality standards, for the processing accuracy of graphite electrode dimensional deviation and thread shape, only specifies the electrode nipple hole diameter positive deviation maximum value and nipple diameter negative deviation maximum value. The end gap between two electrodes’ connection is not more than 0.4mm, and the deviation between electrode body and the center line of nipple hole is no more than 0.3mm. However, it does not specify other aspects (such as pitch deviation, thread taper deviation, etc.). Therefore, graphite electrode manufacturers should formulate their internal control standards for machining accuracy according to user's requirements and factory practical situations.

The machining accuracy of graphite electrode can generally reach the following level by using specially designed combination machine tool:

(1) Processing electrode body (tapered nipple connecting). Outer diameter taper: less than 0.15/2500mm, thread effective diameter deviation: 0 ~ +0.1mm, thread taper deviation: +1\\\'~ -2\\\', thread pitch deviation: less than 0.02/50mm, thread depth deviation: ± 0.01mm, end face roughness: less than 0.05mm.

(2) Processing nipple (tapered nipple). nipple effective diameter deviation: ±0.03mm, taper deviation: less than +2\\', pitch deviation: ±0.03/300mm, length deviation: 0 ~ -2mm, parallelism deviation of both ends: less than 0.1mm. Follow us, let's learn more about the graphite electrode market reports.
