【Worldsteel】Fluctuations in EAF Steel Production in April

According to statistics from World Steel Association, global crude steel production reached 622.7 million tonnes in the first four months of 2023, down 0.3% year-on-year. In April, crude steel production amounted to 161.4 million tonnes, down 2.4% year-on-year and 3.1% month-on-month. 

In April, Asia produced 121.1 million tonnes of crude steel, down 1.5% year-on-year. The EU-27 countries produced 11.1 million tonnes, experiencing an 11.7% decline. North America produced 9.2 million tonnes, down 4.6% year-on-year. South America's crude steel production in March was 3.6 million tonnes, down 2.2% year-on-year. Africa recorded crude steel production of 1.3 million tonnes in April, showing a 4.8% increase. The Middle East produced 4.2 million tonnes of crude steel, up 4.2% year-on-year.

Looking at specific countries in electric arc furnace steel production, Turkey's crude steel production in April was 2.7 million tonnes, down 20.6% year-on-year. Iran's crude steel production reached 3.1 million tonnes, up 5.9% year-on-year. Contact us for more reports on the EAF steel market.
